Today we are glad to announce that Darius Stevens, a lifelong Cortland County resident and former staff member, has been selected as the 2021 Camp Director at 4-H Camp Owahta!
Darius started his journey at 4-H Camp Owahta in 2002 as a camper for 10 years and then in 2012 had the opportunity to work with kitchen staff and to complete the “Counselor-In-Training” Program. Darius became a counselor, and eventually earned the title of Recreation Director where he worked alongside four other counselors to provide high quality sports and recreational programing to campers. Having worked his way from camper all the way to Camp Director, he understands what it takes to achieve the high standards we set for ourselves at 4-H Camp Owahta.
Darius has earned his Bachelor's Degree from Stony Brook University, with a major in History, while also being certified in New York as a Social Studies teacher. Darius is currently enrolled at SUNY Cortland where he will be acquiring his Master's Degree, majoring in Teaching Students with Disabilities.
