Smart Energy Choices

Smart Energy Choices is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension that provides free energy advising to residents, small commercial, non-profit and multifamily building owners and managers to help them reduce their energy use, switch to renewable energy, save money, and improve the comfort of their homes and buildings.

Smart Energy Choices is funded in part by a grant from the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA). This grant, for the Community Energy Engagement Program, has been awarded to Cornell Cooperative Extension associations in four of ten regions throughout the state: Central NY, Mid-Hudson, North Country, and Southern Tier.

Contact a trained Community Energy Advisor who can help you learn about ways to save energy and money, and connect to resources, financial incentives, and local contractors.

  • Central NY: Serving Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego Counties.
  • Mid-Hudson: Serving Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester Counties.
  • North Country: Serving residents of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties
  • Southern Tier: Serving residents of Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins Counties.
