4-H Bread of the Month Workshops

This year we are planning a series of bread baking workshops, one each month, to teach a wide range of bread products. You can sign up for one, or you can sign up for them all! Class is limited to ages 8 and up.

Do you love the smell of fresh baked bread and want to know how to make it yourself in your home kitchen? This bread baking class is the answer! Youth age 8-18 can learn basic bread making skills and dough shaping techniques. You'll leave the workshop with recipes, the knowledge to recreate them at home, the baked goods you made in class, and great ideas for fair entries!

The cost of the workshop is $5.00 per youth, space is limited. Deadline to sign-up is one week before each workshop. Online registration is available.

Workshop1: Biscuits

October 11, 6-8 p.m., Cortlandville Masonic Lodge, 1883 Rt. 13, Cortland, NY

Learn the tips to making flaky biscuits, such as how to properly cut butter into flour. Together we’ll make both classic rolled and dropped biscuits. Simple and delicious, these staples will surely become household favorites!

Workshop 2: Scones

November 8, 6-8 p.m., Cortlandville Masonic Lodge, 1883 Rt. 13, Cortland, NY

Tender, flaky, and buttery, oh my! Scones are sweet, rich, wedge-shaped biscuits that are usually made with cream as well as butter- is it any wonder we can’t keep our hands off them?

Workshop 3: Muffins

December 13, 6-8 p.m., Cortlandville Masonic Lodge, 1883 Rt. 13, Cortland, NY

Muffins are the best! They can be a fast breakfast or a delicious snack. Learn the best hands-on techniques and tricks to making these savory and sweet treats.
